Cannabis Archetypes: Are You the Healer, the Philosopher, or the Explorer?
The Healer, the Philosopher, the Explorer, the Creator, the Connector—which cannabis archetype are you? We explain the types, then you can take our quiz.
Archetypes are recurring patterns—ways of being that show up across people and cultures. When it comes to cannabis, a few patterns keep appearing: the person who uses it for healing, the one who uses it for thinking, the one who uses it for exploring. These aren’t scientific categories; they’re shorthand that helps people recognize themselves and each other. Here’s a map of the five cannabis archetypes we use in our quiz—and what each one tends to look like in real life.
The Healer
You’re drawn to cannabis for relief—physical, emotional, or both. You care about wellness and supporting yourself or others. You use it with intention and often as one tool among many. People come to you when they need grounding.
Healers often discover cannabis through a search for something that actually helps—sleep, pain, anxiety, or just a way to turn down the volume. They’re not in it for the party; they’re in it for function and care. They tend to be the ones who research strains, pay attention to terpenes and CBD, and recommend products to friends who are struggling. If that sounds like you, you’re probably leaning Healer. The quiz will confirm (or surprise you).
The Philosopher
You’re in it for the deep thoughts. Cannabis is a lens for you—a way to see differently and ask bigger questions. You’re the one who turns a session into a conversation about life, meaning, or connection. You like to go deep.
Philosophers use cannabis as a tool for reflection. They’re the ones who, after a session, want to talk about what it means to be conscious, how we connect with others, or why we’re here. They’re not necessarily pretentious—they’re curious. Cannabis seems to loosen the usual filters and let bigger questions surface. If you’ve ever had a high conversation that went to “but what does it all mean?” you’ve got some Philosopher in you.
The Explorer
You’re curious. You want to try new strains, new settings, new experiences. Cannabis is part of your adventure—whether that’s a hike, a new city, or a new idea. You’re open and always learning.
Explorers treat cannabis as one ingredient in a life of curiosity. They’re the ones suggesting a new strain, a new consumption method, or a new context (outdoors, with this playlist, at this time). They’re not reckless—they’re interested. The plant is a way to make experiences a little more vivid or a little more open. If you’re the friend who’s always saying “we should try…” you’re probably an Explorer.
The Creator
You use cannabis to get into flow—music, art, writing, building. It helps you access ideas and stay in the zone. You’re the one who turns a quiet night into something made.
Creators have a practical relationship with cannabis: it’s a tool for getting into the work. They might use it before a writing session, a jam, or a design sprint. They’re not necessarily talking about it a lot—they’re just using it when it helps. The archetype shows up in people who make things and who’ve noticed that a little cannabis (or a little more) sometimes unlocks a state where the work flows. If you’ve ever scheduled a session around a creative block, you’re in Creator territory.
The Connector
Cannabis is about relationship for you—with friends, with yourself, or with the moment. You’re the one who makes people feel at ease and turns a hang into a memory. Presence is your superpower.
Connectors use cannabis to deepen connection. They’re the ones who notice when someone’s left out of the circle, who remember what people like, and who make the vibe feel safe. The plant is a social tool—not in a “party” way necessarily, but in a “this helps us be present together” way. If you’re the person who’s always making sure everyone’s comfortable and the conversation is flowing, you’re likely a Connector.
Why archetypes help
Naming your type isn’t about putting you in a box. It’s about giving you a mirror. When you see “oh, I’m the Healer” or “I’m the Explorer,” you’re recognizing a pattern you already live. That can make it easier to own your relationship with cannabis and to explain it to others. It also makes for a great share: “I got Healer—what did you get?”
